Pharmacological properties

Xylanit is an antagonist of central α2-adrenergic receptors, has calming, muscle relaxant and analgesic effects, and stimulates both central and peripheral alpha-receptors.
In case of a parenteral administration causes the rapid onset of dissociated anesthesia. After an intramuscular or subcutaneous administration, the onset of action of the drug occurs after 5-20 minutes, with an intravenous administration - after 1-5 minutes. The duration of the soothing effect varies in small pets from 1 to 2 hours.
An analgesic effect persists in small animals from 15 to 40 minutes. A muscle relaxant effect in animals occurs after 20-50 minutes.

Indications

Xylanit is used in dogs and cats for calming, analgesia and muscle relaxation during clinical and X-ray examinations, for immobilization of restless and aggressive animals, including during transportation; as an agent of premedication during surgical interventions, painful manipulations, and also for general anesthesia.
Animals should not be disturbed until the full effect of the drug has occurred. If the required sedation depth is not reached, additional injections are not recommended to achieve the desired effect.
Animals after the use of Xylanit should be monitored until a complete normalization of their physiological state.

Restrictions

Contraindications and special instructions:
Females in the last trimester of pregnancy due to the oxytocin-like effect on the uterus (except in cases of childbirth).
Animals with mechanical damage to the gastrointestinal tract (blockage of the esophagus, inversion of the stomach, hernia).
Animals with a impaired cardiac muscle conduction.
In animals with lung diseases, the drug should be used with caution.
