Pharmacological properties

Drotaverine is an isoquinoline derivative, similar in chemical structure and pharmacological properties to papaverine, but has a more pronounced and prolonged effect. Drotaverine has a pronounced antispasmodic effect on smooth muscles due to inhibition of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4).

Indications

No-Prezan Tab is used in dogs and cats to relieve smooth muscle spasms associated with diseases of:

  • biliary system: inflammatory nature (cholecystitis, pericholecystitis, cholangitis), gallstone disease (cholecystolithiasis, cholangiolithia)
  • urinary tract: inflammatory nature (pyelitis, urocystitis, ureteritis, urethritis), urolithiasis (nephrolithiasis, urethrolithiasis, urocystolithiasis, uroterolithiasis), bladder spasms (painful tenesmus, idiopathic cystitis)
  • gastrointestinal tract: with inflammation (peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, gastritis, enteritis, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome with flatulence), spastic nature (pylorospasm, achalasia of the cardia, spastic colitis with constipation)
  • reproductive system: with inflammation (prostatitis, endometritis, vestibulitis)
  • as well as to relieve spasmodic pain in the postpartum and postoperative periods

Dosage and method of administration

Cats and dogs

Dosage

Single dose of 1-3 mg drotaverine hydrochloride per 1 kg of animal body weight

Method and frequency of administration

Perorally individually or mixed with feed.

It is allowed to divide the daily dose into 2-3 doses

Treatment course

Depending on the severity of the disease, the dosage, frequency and the course of administration can be determined individually by a veterinarian

The daily dose should not exceed 3 mg of drotaverine hydrochloride per 1 kg of animal body weight

Restrictions

Contraindications and special instructions:
Hypersensitivity to drotaverine or to any of the excipients of the veterinary drug.
Severe liver or kidney failure.
Severe heart failure.
Glaucoma.
Low blood pressure (arterial hypotension).
AV block of ll-lll degree.
