Doxycycline belongs to the tetracycline antibiotics. Doxycycline inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting enzymes causing disruption of microbial cell protein synthesis. It has a bacteriostatic effect on gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms including:
- Chlamydia spp.
- Clostridium spp.
- Escherichia coli
- Haemophilus spp.
- Leptospira spp.
- Listeria spp.
- Mycoplasma spp.
- Pasteurella spp.
- Salmonella spp.

Doxylox OR is administered individually or by a group method. In the case of the group method used, during the treatment period, pigs and poultry should receive water with the drug only. The treatment solution, measured to be consumed within a day, is prepared daily. No rusty drinkers shall be used.
Avoid using the drug simultaneously with corticosteroids and estrogens, as well as with muscle relaxants. Avoid using Doxylox OR in animals suffering from liver failure, in pregnant and lactating animals. Avoid using the drug in laying hens and replacement chickens less than 14 days before the start of egg laying.
Withdrawal period:
meat: 10 days (pigs), 6 days (poultry)
