Uteroton Forte

Uteroton Forte belongs to the group of non-selective beta-blockers in combinations.

Propranolol has a blocking effect on the beta-adrenergic receptors of the myometrium, which contributes to the activity of endogenous oxytocin, resulting in increased contractions of the smooth muscles of the uterus and mammary gland. It is a catecholamine antagonist and has a pronounced anti-stress effect.

Oxytocin is a synthetic polypeptide analog of the hormone of the posterior pituitary gland. It has a stimulating effect on the smooth muscles of the uterus, especially at the end of pregnancy, as well as during labor by increasing the permeability of cell membranes to calcium ions and increasing its intracellular concentration. Under the influence of oxytocin, the resting potential of the membrane decreases and its excitability increases. It causes contractions, increases the contractility of the uterus.

Uteroton Forte is used in cows:

• to stimulate labor in case of atony, hypotension of the uterus
• to prevent afterbirth retention and uterine subinvolution
• to treat postpartum endometritis in cows as part of complex therapy

For preventive purposes, the drug is administered to animals once every 2-3 weeks, for therapeutic purposes – once every 7-10 days. In pregnant sows, the drug is administered 3-4 weeks before farrowing, in dry cows –1-1.5 months before calving. When administered orally, the drug is given to animals in a mixture with feed for three weeks. At the same time, it is necessary to balance the diets of protein, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and trace elements.

Contraindications and special instructions:

Do not use during pregnancy and in case of abnormal fetal position, as well as in case of individual hypersensitivity.

Simultaneous use of the drug with adrenomimetics, non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, sedatives and hypnotics is not recommended due to the possible increased depressive effect on the central nervous system, and iodine-containing drugs administered intravenously and intramuscularly due to an increased risk of anaphylactic reactions.
