Pharmacological properties
Miocid belongs to the group of antiseptics. Bismuth subnitrate has astringent, adsorbing, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. Bismuth subnitrate coagulates proteins, forming a protective film of denatured proteins on the surface of the tissue, has a vasoconstrictive effect, reduces inflammation. After administration of Miocid into the udder nipple, a clot of bismuth albuminate forms, which mechanically closes the channel, which prevents the penetration of infectious agents into the udder and prevents the occurrence of mastitis during the dry period. Miocid is not resorbed and does not have a negative effect on the udder tissue

Dosage and method of administration
Miocid is used in cows once after the last milking immediately before the dry period. The contents of one syringe are administered into each nipple of the udder. The administration of Miocid, cooled below room temperature, may be difficult due to increased viscosity. In order to facilitate the administration of the drug, it is recommended to withstand it to room temperature. Before the introduction of Miocid, it is necessary to completely milk the milk from the udder. The nipple is wiped from the outside with a 70% alcohol solution or a special antiseptic cloth. For calm animals, only the upper part of the cap covering the cannula of the syringe is removed, and for restless animals, it is completely removed. After that, the cannula of the syringe is carefully inserted into the nipple, the nipple is squeezed at the base, and, gently pressing on the plunger of the syringe, the drug is administered.
After administration of the drug, the udder nipple and udder should not be massaged. Miocid is used in healthy cows. In case of subclinical mastitis, it is recommended to use Mastenit before using the drug Miocid. After calving, the Miocid is removed from the nipple canal by gently squeezing fingers from the base of the nipple.
