Amoxygard
Combined drug based on amoxicillin and clavulanic acid that overcomes resistance to amoxicillin and other β-lactam antibiotics
- Extended spectrum of action
- Clavulanic acid restores the activity of amoxicillin to resistant pathogens
- Highly effective treatment
The combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid has a broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including β-lactamase-producing strains:

Resistance to β-lactam antibiotics is usually associated with the ability of microorganisms to produce β-lactamase, i. e. an enzyme that breaks down the β-lactam ring of the antibiotic before it can affect the bacterium. Clavulanic acid inactivates β-lactamase and thus restores the bacterial sensitivity of bacteria to amoxicillin at concentrations that are easily achieved in the animal tissues by injecting the drug.
