Pharmacological properties

Cerynebs belongs to the group of antiemetics – neurokinin receptor antagonist. The active substance of the drug, maropitant, is an antagonist of the NK1 neurokinin receptors and inhibits the binding of the substance P - neuropeptide, consisting of a chain of 11 amino acid residues, of a tachykinins group in the central nervous system. Maropitant is effective in preventing vomiting of both central and peripheral genesis.

Indications

Cerynebs is used in dogs and cats to prevent nausea and vomiting of various origins, including those caused by the use of chemotherapeutic agents, animal transportation (motion sickness syndrome) and parvovirus enteritis. The use of the veterinary drug is effective in preventing postoperative nausea, vomiting, and improving recovery after anesthesia caused by the use of opiate receptor agonists.

Restrictions

It is forbidden to use the veterinary drug for dogs younger than 8 weeks of age, as well as cats younger than 16 weeks of age and animals with individual hypersensitivity to the components of the veterinary drug.
It should not be prescribed simultaneously with calcium channel blockers due to the affinity of the maropitant to calcium channels. Maropitant can compete with drugs that bind heavily to plasma proteins.
It should be prescribed with caution to animals with liver pathology and heart failure.
The drug is not recommended for pregnant and lactating females. If necessary, the veterinary drug is used under the supervision of a veterinarian based on an assessment of the ratio of the expected benefit to the possible risk of its use.
