Modern, selective NSAID with prolonged action for effective and safe control of pain and inflammation in all animals
Meloxicam, the active ingredient in the drug, inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, exerting anti-inflammatory, anti-exudative, antipyretic, and analgesic effects.
Its mechanism of action involves selective inhibition of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymatic activity, thereby blocking the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins responsible for inflammation, pain, and edema. It has minimal effect on cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), thus minimizing the risk of adverse effects (including bleeding, ulcer formation, and impaired renal function). Meloxicam reduces leukocyte infiltration at the site of inflammation, inhibits platelet aggregation, and in animals also suppresses E. coli endotoxin-induced thromboxane B2 production.
Following administration, peak plasma concentrations of the active substance are reached within 1.5-2.5 hours.
