Pharmacological properties
The anticoccidial activity of the product is due to the synergism of its active components: monensin – a polyether ionophore antibiotic, and nicarbazin – a synthetic anticoccidial agent that inhibits the parasite’s energy metabolism.

Both monensin and nicarbazin are effective against all species of coccidia parasitizing in poultry, including Eimeria tenella, E. necatrix, E. acervulina, E. brunetti, E. mivati, E. maxima, as well as Eimeria adenoides, E. meleagrimitis, and E. gallopavonis.

The mechanism of monensin action involves disruption of sodium and potassium ion transport in immature stages of coccidia, leading to their death during the schizont stage.
The mechanism of nicarbazin action consists in inhibiting the parasite’s energy metabolism; it interrupts the coccidial life cycle at multiple developmental stages and is most active against second-generation schizonts.

The combined action of these components not only enhances the overall anticoccidial efficacy but also delays the development of resistance.
