Respiratory diseases in young cattle

Rhinitis is inflammation of the nose mucous membrane. The course can be acute and chronic, the inflammatory process can be catarrhal, croupous and follicular; by origin it can be primary and secondary.

Laryngitis is inflammation of the laryngeal mucous membrane. The course can be acute and chronic, the inflammatory exudate can be catarrhal and fibrinous; by origin it can be primary and secondary.

Tracheitis is inflammation of the trachea mucous membrane. As a rule, tracheitis is registered as a complication of laryngitis or bronchitis and scarcely manifests itself as an independent disease. Young, old and weak animals tend to get ill more often.

Bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchial mucous membrane. The inflammatory process can be catarrhal, purulent, hemorrhagic, fibrinous and mixed, the course can be acute and chronic, the origin can be primary and secondary.

Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lungs. By the nature of inflammatory exudate, pneumonias can be serous, fibrinous, hemorrhagic, catarrhal, purulent, putrefactive and mixed, and by localization of the pathological process, there are alveolitis (lesion of several alveoli), acinous pneumonia (small foci of lesions at the terminal bronchial branches), lobular pneumonia (lesion of several lobules ), overwhelming pneumonia, segmental pneumonia, lobar (lobar - lesion of the whole lung lobe) and total (pathological process affected the entire lung). In some cases, interstitial and peribronchial pneumonias are distinguished. In agricultural animals, the most common are catarrhal (bronchopneumonia) and fibrinous (croupous) pneumonias.
