  • An antiparasitic drug from the new generation of avermectins that overcomes resistance to ivermectin and provides an extremely long protection against re-infestation.

    The product is a clear light yellow to yellow liquid.

    Meradok is available in 100 mL hermetically sealed glass vials.

    Doramectin refers to the last generation of macrocyclic lactones and is a metabolic byproduct of microorganisms from the Streptomycetaceae family. 

    Doramectin is obtained by way of mutational biosynthesis, where the mutated streptomyces avermitilis strain was used to produce avermectins.

    The drug has a broad spectrum of insecticidal, nematicidal and acaricidal action; it is active against nematodes of the gastrointestinal tract, lungs, subcutaneous tissue, gadfly larvae, as well as Sarcoptoidea and red ticks. Doramectin contained in the drug binds with muscle cell and nervous tissue receptors, increases membrane permeability for chlorine ions, causing blockage of nerve impulses that leads to paralysis and death of the parasite. Doramectin is quickly absorbed from the administration site; it enters the systemic circulation, tissues and organs, reaching the peak concentrations within 4-5 days, remains in the body for a long period providing protection against re-infestation for 28 days.

     The drug is mainly excreted unchanged in the feces. In recommended doses Meradok has no mutagenic, embryotoxic or teratogenic effect.

    Meradok is administered to cattle, sheep and pigs for treatment and prevention of diseases caused by nematodes of the gastrointestinal tract, lungs, subcutaneous tissue, tear ducts, by subcutaneous and Oestrinae larvae, lice, itch mites, and red ticks.

    Meradok is administered to cattle for treatment of diseases caused by:

    - Gastrointestinal nematodes (mature and larvae): Ostertagia ostertagi (including encapsulated larvae), O. lyrata, Haemonchus placei, H. similis, Trichostrongylus axei, T. colubriformis, T. longispicularis, Mecistocirrus digitatus, Cooperia oncophora (including encapsulated larvae), C. pectinata, C. punctata, C. spatulata, C. sumabada (a synonym for mcmasteri), Nematodirus helvetianus, N. spathiger, Bunostomum phlebotomum, Strongyloides papillosus, Oesophagostomum radiatum, Trichocephalus discolor, Trichocephalus ovis;

    - Pulmonary nematodes (mature and larvae): Dictyocaulus viviparous;

    - Nematodes of the tear ducts: Thelazia spp;

    - Subcutaneous nematodes: Parafilaria bovicola;

    - Larvae of warble flies and Oestrinae: Hypoderma bovis, Hypoderma lineatum;

    - Lice: Bovicola bovis, Haematopinus eurystemus, Linognathus vituli, Solenopotes capillatus;

    - Sarcoptoidea: Psoroptes bovis, Sarcoptes bovis, Chorioptes bovis;

    - Red ticks: Boophilus microplus;

    - Argasids: Ornithodoros spp.

    Meradok is administered to sheep for treatment of diseases caused by:

    - Gastrointestinal nematodes: Ostertagia (Teladorsagia) circumcincta (mature and larvae, including resistant to benzimidazole derivatives), Haemonchus contortus (mature and larvae), Trichostrongilus axei (mature and larvae), T. colu-briformis (mature and larvae), T. vitrinus (mature and larvae), Cooperia curticei (larvae), C. oncophora (mature and larvae), Oesophagostomum venulosum (mature adults), Nematodirus spp. (mature and larvae), Strongyloides papillosus.

    - Pulmonary nematodes: Dictyocaulus filarial;

    - Itch mites: Psoroptes ovis, Sarcoptes ovis;

    - Oestrinae larvae: Oestrus ovis.

    Meradok® is administered to pigs for treatment of diseases caused by:

    - Gastrointestinal nematodes (mature and larvae): Hyostrongylus rubidus, Ascaris suum, Strongyloides ransomi (mature), Oesophagostomum dentatum, Oesophagostomum quadrispinulatum, Trichocephalus suis;

    - Pulmonary nematodes (mature): Metastrongylus spp;

    - Renal nematodes (mature): Stephanurus dentatus;

    - Lice: Haematopinus suis;

    - Itch mites: Sarcoptes scabiei.

    Meradok shall be administered once parenterally, under aseptic conditions using dry sterile syringes and needles, at the following doses:

    - In cattle: subcutaneous administration in the neck area, 1 mL per 50 kg of body weight (equivalent to 0.2 mg of doramectin per 1 kg);

    - In sheep: intramuscular administration in the neck area or femoral muscle, 1 mL per 50 kg of animal body weight (equivalent to 0.2 mg of doramectin per 1 kg of weight);

    - In pigs: intramuscular administration at the base of one ear, 33 mL of the solution per 1 kg of animal body weight (equivalent to 0.3 mg of doramectin per 1 kg of weight).

  • Restrictions

    Due to the release of doramectin in milk, the drug use to dairy, as well as pregnant cows less than 60 prior to the expected date of delivery; to sheep, less than 70 days prior to the expected delivery date is prohibited. Cattle and sheep slaughter for meat is allowed not earlier than in 70 days; of pigs, not earlier than in 77 days upon the administration. In case of an emergency slaughter before the deadline, the meat can be used to feed fur animals.
