  • Pharmacological properties

A synergistic combination of sulfadimezin and trimethoprim, the active substances of Ditrim powder, enhance each other’s effects through successive impact on the metabolism of n-aminobenzoic and folic acids that takes place in the microbial cell, thus ensuring a wide range of antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microbes including E. coli, Clostridium spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Bacillus anthracis, Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Vibrio spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Shigella spp., Corynebacterium spp., Klebsiella spp., Fusobacterium spp., Bordetella spp.
After Ditrim powder has been administered orally; its active substances are fully and quickly absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract and distributed across all organs and tissues, and reach their peak concentrations within 2-3 hours after injection. After that, the drug is maintained at therapeutic concentrations for 24 hours. Ditrim is eliminated mainly with urine and feces.
