The XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi were a major event which many people around the world had been looking forward to for a long time.

It is with great joy and pride for our country that we congratulate our athletes with their incredible success at the Olympics on home soil in Sochi. Russian athletes not only won the overall medal count but also broke the previous record set by the USSR team at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, when Soviet athletes won 29 medals – 11 gold, 11 silver, and 7 bronze.

We would like to express our tremendous gratitude to all the fans who provided their emotional support over the course of these momentous 18 days. Your support has indeed made it possible for Russian athletes to achieve such splendid results!
