NITA-FARM in Iraq: an international dialogue on animal health
On October 20, the international veterinary conference ANIMALPROFI 2026, “Poultry and Livestock Health Management,” took place at the Mövenpick Al Zaytoon Hotel in Baghdad. The event was organized by NITA-FARM and its Iraqi partner, Abna Sukhtian.
The conference brought together more than 200 participants: veterinary professionals, representatives of poultry and livestock enterprises, veterinary clinics, government institutions, and Iraq’s professional community.
The significance of the meeting was underscored by the participation of representatives of Iraq’s Veterinary Department and the Veterinary Medical Association. The conference’s guests of honor were Dr. Omar Raad Al-Hayali, Director General of the Veterinary Department at Iraq’s Ministry of Agriculture, and Dr. Alaa Hussein Al-Hasnawi, President of the Iraqi Veterinarians Syndicate.
Representatives of both organizations emphasized the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in developing veterinary medicine in the country.
The Ministry of Agriculture highlighted the private sector’s role as a key partner in improving the quality of veterinary services, introducing modern technologies, and ensuring access to veterinary products that meet international standards. The Iraqi Veterinarians Syndicate also emphasized the importance of such events for exchanging expertise, keeping professionals informed about scientific advances, and strengthening international cooperation.
The conference speaker was Dr. Mahmoud Halima, a professor at Leiden University and an international expert in veterinary pharmacology with experience working in Middle Eastern markets.
The program focused on practical solutions for maintaining the health of poultry, cattle, sheep, and goats, modern approaches to disease prevention and treatment, and the application of veterinary knowledge in the day-to-day operations of farms.
Participants learned about NITA-FARM’s manufacturing capabilities and products and discussed approaches to their use in veterinary practice. The round-table format provided an opportunity to ask the expert questions and discuss challenges that professionals face on their farms.
For NITA-FARM, ANIMALPROFI marked an important step in developing cooperation with Iraq’s veterinary community. The conference created a platform for direct dialogue between experts, businesses, and industry organizations, centered on practical solutions for animal health and farm efficiency.
NITA-FARM continues to strengthen its presence in international markets and support veterinary professionals not only with high-quality products but also with up-to-date knowledge.
We thank the participants, the speaker, and the Abna Sukhtian team for their cooperation and professional dialogue!
We look forward to seeing you again at international AnimalProfi conferences!
