  • Ceftonit Forte is an enhanced injectable ceftiofur with no restrictions on milk and an extended up to 7 days effect following single administration.
    Ceftonit Forte is manufactured in the form of injectable suspension packaged in 100 mL glass vials.

    Ceftonit is an antibacterial veterinary drug of the cephalosporin group. Its active ingredient is ceftiofur hydrochloride, the third generation cephalosporin antibiotic, which is very effective against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including β-lactamase producing strains and some anaerobic bacteria: Escherichia coli, Pasteurella (Mannheimia) haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus somnus, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilus parasuis, Salmonella cholerasuis, Streptococcus Suis, Streptococcus zooepidemicus, Streptococcus equi, Pasteurella spp, Staphilococcus spp., Actynomyces pyogenes, Salmonells typhimurium, Streptococcus agalactiae, S. dysgalactiae, S. bovis, Klebsiela, Citrobacter, Enterobacter, Bacillus spp., Proteus spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum и Porphiromonas assacharolytica (Bacteroides melaninogenicus).

    After injection, ceftiofur is quickly metabolised into desfuroylceftiofur, which has a biological activity against microorganisms.

    Due to the special prolonged form of ceftiofur, Ceftonit Forte is rapidly resorbed from the injection site and reaches a maximum concentration in plasma in 12 hours remaining at the therapeutic level for at least 7 days.

  • Dosage and route of administration

    Shake well the vial with Ceftonit Forte before administration to obtain a homogeneous suspension. In cold weather, it is recommended to warm the drug to room temperature (18-23 °C). Insert the needle subcutaneously near the ear base in the direction of the opposite eye of the animal (see the diagram). The drug is administered once in a dose of 1 mL per 30 kg of animal weight, no more than 30 mL of the drug into the same site.

  • Restrictions

    Slaughter of cattle for meat is permitted not earlier than 20 days after the administration of the drug. Meat from animals, forcedly slaughtered before the expiry of the stated period may be used for fur animals feed. Milk can be used for food purposes without restrictions.
